My guest today is a musician, programmer, writer, speaker, introvert, and entrepreneur.
My guest started out as a professional musician. Then he wanted a way to sell his own CDs on the internet, but the means to do this didn’t exist. So his entrepreneurial spirit took over and he decided to create a website to sell his own music Ñ then his friends music, then his friends friends were asking, and CD Baby was born.
CD Baby went on to become the largest online seller of independent music and created $100 million in sales for 150,000 musicians. My guest sold the company in 2008 for $22 million and gave the proceeds to a charitable trust for music education.
He has published 34 books, including the Amazon bestseller, Anything You Want. He is also a frequent speaker at the TED Conference and his talks have had over 5 million views.
